A Cedar City native, Sundee Davis always thought she would move away to go to college, but when the time came, Southern Utah University checked all of the boxes: a great education, affordable and located in a safe, friendly community.
As an accounting major, Sundee had many opportunities to network and make connections with professionals working in the field.
“It was really inspiring and motivating for me to see what I might do with an accounting degree,” said Sundee. “This helped me find purpose in that it gave me a goal beyond just getting the degree.”
After graduating from SUU with a bachelor's and a master’s degree in accounting, Sundee began working for Deloitte & Touche LLP in auditing services and has since become a Senior Manager on two of the firm's largest accounts.
As a Certified Public Accountant, Sundee works with a team of CPA’s and specialists to audit the financial statements and internal controls of large public companies. Her work varies from day to day but typically she is involved with budgeting, coaching staff and providing on the job training, writing technical memos describing accounting policies or audit procedures, and building relationships with clients.
“The accounting courses at SUU were invaluable,” said Sundee. “I was prepared to absorb on-the-job training and pass the CPA exam. The direct access to professors made me comfortable as a new staff member to approach senior managers and partners with questions, which kept me on an upward trajectory at the firm.”
