CTI Request Services

This request form is used to provide access to Canvas courses where automatic population through Banner will not occur. Examples: Adding a TA to your PSY 1010 course or adding participants to a university staff training course or committee. If you have questions, please contact canvas@suu.edu.

This form is not to be used to enroll or disenroll students in academic courses; this must be processed through the Registrar's Office.

Access Request Form

Course sections can be combined into one Canvas shell to assist with a simplified gradebook. FERPA must still be considered and courses must stay FERPA compliant. If you have questions on FERPA, please contact the Registrar's Office at registrar@suu.edu.

Combine Sections Request Form

This form is to provide permission for the Center for Teaching Innovation to copy course material from one shell to another. It can be specified whether this is to copy the entire course or just parts of the course.

Course Copy Request Form

This request is for faculty or staff who have need of a Canvas shell that is not part of the SUU course catalog. For example, shells can be used for master courses, sandboxes, department meetings, committees, trainings, and more.

CTI can convert paper copies of quizzes into Canvas. Please email us at canvas@suu.edu with the course code (e.g. BIOL-2010-01), a copy of the quiz/answer key, and any other instructions.

Please note that quiz creation can take 2 to 3 business days.

To submit a request to post a global announcement on Canvas, fill out the Global Canvas Announcement Request Form.  Requests must include the following information to be fully considered: 

• announcement title
• contents of global announcement
• date range for when the announcement should be posted (max 1 week)

Request Access

This request is for faculty who would like assistance ensuring that their course(s) meets a high standard of accessibility for students with educational needs. The Center for Teaching Innovation will review the Ally Accessibility score and fix or make recommendations on how to improve that score to an acceptable level of accessibility. We can assist with courses for the current or future semesters.

Request Multimedia Assistance

CTI has an on-campus recording studio available for use by faculty and staff. The studio can be used to record video or audio introductions to courses, lectures, updates, summaries, and more. The Multimedia Team has the ability to add text, PowerPoints, opening/closing text, and/or animations in the editing process is available. Features include:

• Lightboard
• Green screen
• Overhead cameras for demonstrations
• Multiple mics for multiple presenters/speakers

This request is for faculty who would like to update the visual appearance of their course(s) by adding DesignPlus to their future courses.

Center for Teaching Innovation provides Zoom Webinar Licenses for SUU departments to utilize for large events or guest speakers without additional cost. While Zoom Webinars are similar to Zoom meetings, there are some key differences you should be aware of if you are requesting a Zoom webinar. These include:

• Panelists receiving unique URLs for the webinar (should not be shared)
• Webinars do not have the ability to conduct breakout rooms
• Q&A feature allows attendees to submit questions
• Chat can be disabled
• Attendees cannot turn on their own video and audio

The University has a limited number of Zoom Pro Accounts, and these are designated to support instructors of courses that are primarily online. While we are increasing online offerings, we want to measure interest in Zoom Pro Accounts, and we hope to increase the quantity of accounts in the future to meet demands. Due to this fact, we have to migrate people on and off of Zoom Pro Accounts based on course load.

CTI offers one-on-one or small group training for the following types of services:

• Training on CTI supported technology listed on our Vendor Accessibility and Privacy Statements page.
• Technical support and troubleshooting.
• Assistance with course design and instructional design support.
• Quality Matters reviews of existing courses with recommendations for improvement.

Interactive Video Conferencing (IVC) is connecting two or more sites via audio and video through the use of video conferencing equipment. IVC may be used to hold conferences, meetings, classes, workshops, or one-on-one scenarios to give participants the opportunity to see, hear, and share information digitally in real time.
