Miranda Barnard has had a successful run of marketing experience that has brought her to her current role as vice president for marketing at HealthEquity, a Utah-based company that allows people to manage their healthcare while building health and retirement savings.
She showed early dynamism as a fourth-grader by founding her own newspaper about endangered animals, and went on to shine at SUU in media clubs and classes, as well as excelling as advertising sales manager at The University Journal. And, she has found great career success, with Las Vegas’ “What Happens Here Stays Here” campaign, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Disney, Delta Airlines, Marriott, and Vivint Solar.
This is quite the resume, but marketing maven Miranda (née Mabbutt) had her start in the rough-and-tumble town of Price, Utah, graduating from Carbon High in 1997. She always wanted to work in marketing, advertising, or journalism, so when she stepped onto SUU’s campus, she knew that the small class sizes and quality professors would help her focus on the career path that best fit her personality and interests.
“I believe attending SUU provided me with a tremendous career advantage because I was able to graduate with a full portfolio of real work, as volunteer, work, and internship opportunities were so accessible,” she says.
She was able to pursue anything in her interest, both academically and career-wise, and received honest and direct feedback from professors, which helped her develop her skills and hone her focus.
Miranda met her husband Zach (‘01) in line at the SUU Bookstore when they were both students. They enjoy bringing their two sons to campus for Homecoming and look forward to when they will be T-Birds themselves one day. They all enjoy taking advantage of living in Utah by hiking, paddle boarding, golfing, and skiing.
