Budget and Finance Committee

The Budget and Finance Committee manages an allotment of student fees designated for the Student Association. The Committee is responsible for handling funding requests from University Sponsored Organizations (USOs), Individual Student Clubs (ISCs), and Competitive Sports Organizations (CSOs), each eligible to request up to $750 per semester. If you are unsure of your club status please call the Student Involvement and Leadership office at 435-586-7762. Requests are reviewed by the Finance Committee and may be approved, denied, or adjusted based on collective decision-making.

Requesting Money

Here is a general breakdown of the SUUSA Funding Policy:

  • All groups may submit funding requests to the SUUSA Finance Committee. The maximum grant amount available is $750 per semester, with a total limit of $1,500 per academic year.
  • Due to the relationship between the University and University Sponsored Organizations (USOs), USOs may request an additional $2,000 from the SUUSA Student Senate after exhausting all other resources and receiving the initial $750 from the Budget and Finance Committee for that semester. USOs interested in this option should contact the Vice President of Finance for further information.
  • Funding requests should be submitted to the Budget and Finance Committee at least four (4) weeks prior to the intended use date. Requests received less than four weeks in advance cannot be guaranteed discussion or funding.
  • Please note that funds received from SUUSA must be utilized for on-campus activities accessible to all SUU students and cannot be used for conference travel or other off-campus activities. Exceptions can be made for USOs on a case-by-case basis.
  • Individual funding requests are no longer permitted under the Utah System of Higher Education policies. Those seeking funding should contact their Student College Senator and the SPARC office who may provide the individual with more information.

Funding Request Submission

USOs, ISCs, and CSOs can apply for up to $750 per semester. Please note that submitting a request does not guarantee funding. Requests must be submitted at least 10 business days prior to the event date. Any requests submitted with fewer than 10 business days' notice will be automatically denied.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude for all of the SUUSA Club Funding Requests submitted throughout the academic year. Due to the high volume of submissions and the funds already allocated, please be advised that the submission period will close at (midnight on March 14th, 2025). While submissions can still be made prior to the deadline, it is important to note that, due to limited funds remaining, very few requests may be approved. We greatly appreciate the continued support and enthusiasm for utilizing this resource, and for your collective efforts in making a positive impact on the student community.
